Public Policy
The Public Policy and Advocacy Committee raises awareness and educates the public about certain societal issues, engages and galvanizes people around that issue, and charts a course of action. Additionally, this committee researches current and proposed public policies and how these policies work for or against the NCBW100 Chicago agenda to empower Black women and girls in the areas of health, education and economic security. Initiatives already completed include:
- A Get Out the Vote Letter Writing Campaign for the 2020 Georgia U.S. Senatorial race
- COVID 19 Vaccine, What We Need To Know: A Town Hall Meeting
- a panel discussion including health care professionals, COVID researcher and a COVID 19 survivor
- E-Learning, School Re openings or Both? Implications for the Chicago Public Schools Hardest Hit by COVID 19
- Virtual Legislative Day – Getting to Know Our Legislators
- Advocacy 101: How to Win Friends and Influence Lawmakers
- The Policing of Black Women, Know Your Rights: A Community Round table Discussion
